Tottenham couldn’t be in”better hands” together with Mauricio Pochettino as manager, according to former Spurs midfielder Ossie Ardiles.
Pochettino has led Tottenham to their greatest Premier League conclusion and reached the Champions League final for the first time in the history of the club .
Despite question marks over his long-term future, the reiterated his devotion to Tottenham last month .
Ardiles, that also had a spell as Spurs director from 1993-94, believes the club could not find anybody better.
“Pochettino is an absolutely wonderful manager so that we cannot be in better control to be absolutely truthful,” he said.
“He works really hard, he’s a very, very honorable man, an honest manager, really good .
“If you go there there’s a family atmosphere which he has created, therefore we cannot be in better hands. He’ll stay for a long, long time.”
Tottenham are in the Premier League table after five games, only two points Liverpool.
Despite having a disappointing defeat at home to Newcastle, Ardiles believes Spurs have had a fantastic start and may compete at the table’s peak.
“[It’s been] very optimistic. I feel that there are two groups to conquer Liverpool and Manchester City – however I believe we are among the groups that can beat them we are going to attempt to fight with them all the way,” he added.
“We’ve got a very, very powerful squad. That revealed last year and in the Champions League. We do have a very strong squad but we need to be a bit better and that I expect we will do it this year.”
