Tottenham could not maintain”better hands” with Mauricio Pochettino as boss, based on former Spurs midfielder Ossie Ardiles.
Pochettino has led Tottenham to their highest Premier League conclusion and reached the Champions League final for the first time at the history of the club .
Despite question marks on his long run, the Argentine reiterated his devotion to Tottenham .
Ardiles, that had a spell as Spurs director considers the club could not find anybody better than the former Southampton boss.
“Pochettino is a totally wonderful manager so we can’t be in better control to be perfectly honest,” he explained.
“He works extremely hard, he is a very, very honest guy, an honest manager, very good tactically.
“If you go there there’s a family atmosphere which he’s created, so we cannot be in better hands. He’ll stay for a longlong moment.”
Tottenham are third in the Premier League table after five matches, only two points behind Manchester City but seven adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Even with a disappointing defeat at home to Newcastle, Ardiles may compete at the top of the table and believes Spurs have had a great start to the summer.
“[It has been] very positive. I believe there are two groups to conquer Liverpool and Manchester City – but I think we’re among the groups that can beat them and we are going to attempt to fight with them all the way,” he added.
“We’ve got a very, very powerful squad. That showed last season and at the Champions League. We do have a very strong group but we still need to become a bit better and that I expect we’ll do this season.”
