Tottenham could not maintain”better control” with Mauricio Pochettino as boss, based on former Spurs midfielder Ossie Ardiles.
Since arriving at the club in 2014, Pochettino has led Tottenham for their highest Premier League complete and reached the Champions League final for the first time in the club’s history last season.
Despite question marks over his future, the reiterated his devotion to Tottenham after revealing that he has turned down job opportunities elsewhere.
Ardiles, who had a short spell as Spurs manager considers the club could not find anyone better than the former Southampton boss.
“Pochettino is an absolutely amazing manager so that we cannot be in better control to be absolutely truthful,” he said.
“He works really hard, he is a very, very honorable man, an honest manager, really good .
“When you go there there’s a family atmosphere which he’s created, therefore we can’t be in better hands. He’ll remain for a longlong moment.”
Tottenham are third in the Premier League table after five matches, just two points behind Manchester City however seven adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Despite having a disappointing defeat at home to Newcastle, Ardiles considers Spurs have had a great beginning to the season and may still compete at the top of the table.
“[It’s been] very favorable. I believe that there are two groups to beat – Liverpool and Manchester City – however I think we are among the teams that can beat them and we will try and fight together all the way,” he added.
“We have a very, very strong group. That showed last year and at the Champions League as well. We have a very strong group but we need to become a bit better and I expect we will do this season.”
