Another Saturday of NHL activity is set to play out on October 12. Fourteen games are up on the board during Saturday. Among the matches set to go down will probably be between the Washington Capitals and the Dallas Stars. These two teams are thought to be contenders this season. This game will faceoff at roughly 8:00 PM Eastern time on Saturday night.
Washington has started out the season with a record of 2-1-2, that includes them in position of the Metropolitan Division. This was not quite the start theyd planned, while the Capitals are still sitting at the cap of the branch. Washington has dropped their last 3 games following a 2-0 start to the season. The Capitals will seem to get back on track with a road victory on Saturday.
The Stars are currently in fifth place of their Central Division with a list of 1-3-1. Dallas has not been off to the beginning they were expecting for after making some huge moves in the offseason. The Stars have made points in their past two games, but will appear to build a winning streak to return into a winning record early in this season up.
Because they made playoff runs past season, the Stars and the Capitals have a lot of talent on their roster. While Dallas proceeded on into the next round before being knocked out washington was pumped out from seven games. These two teams havent had the best begins but will perform at an exciting summer matchup on Saturday night.
Washington and Dallas met up twice during season. The game has been in Washington. The Capitals were able to battle back, although the Stars jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Jason Dickinson completed the comeback bid of Washington with a goal in overtime. The Stars hosted the second game and it was another one. Tyler Seguin scored his second goal of the night in overtime to give Dallas the win.
The Stars and the Capitals and once this season have already met up on October 8. Evgeny Kuznetsov opened up the scoring with a goal in the first phase. John Carlson gave Washington the return after Roope Hintz tied it up. Nicklas Backstrom then played with hero because he played thirty seconds left to tie this up. Tyler Seguin completed the match though to give Dallas the win.
Dallas was in a position to acquire the few games against Washington heading back to last season. The Stars win this season came on the street against the Capitals and theyll look to make their second win of the season too against Washington. These two teams have been inside one goal of each other in eight of their last nine matchups against one another, making me expect another game on Saturday.
The Capitals have experienced lots of power play opportunities to obtain their teams moving so far this season. Washington has scored four power play goals. The Capitals penalty kill was performing well too, stopping opponents on twelve of their power play chances. Washington will look to keep these numbers up through the season.
Dallas teams hasnt been performing quite as well on the season. The Stars have just scored one power play goal on two chances this season for a 7.14 power play percent. Dallas has dedicated twenty five penalties, but have merely allowed three objectives to get an 85.71 penalty kill percentage.
Because they seem to get their power play moving, the Stars will probably look to alter some things. Washington has a slight advantage as their power play has been functioning, although both teams have set up a good penalty kill the season. Together with Alexander Ovechkin on the power play it is always dangerous and Dallas will look to neutralize it.
Braden Holtby will likely get the nod in net in this game for the Capitals. Holtby has gone 1-1-2 within his starts thus far this year. Hes earned a save percentage of .868 and a GAA of 3.67. Last season, Holtby went 32-19-5 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA. Holtby has not been off to a excellent start, but I expect him to get it going sooner rather than later.
Ben Bishop is expected to begin on Saturday night. Bishop has really gone 1-2-1 this season. He has submitted a save percentage of .910 and a 2.48 GAA. As he finished with a record of 27-15-2 bishop was a Vezina Trophy finalist last season. In those games he had a .934 save percentage and a GAA of 1.98 to assist lead the Stars into the playoffs.
Neither goalie was away to the start, however, Bishop has set up the numbers that are greater so much this season. Bishop also had the season , but Holtby remains a powerful netminder. I expect him to turn around this beginning. I believe Holtby will try to find some revenge against the Stars as he seems to provide the Capitals a win.
The Stars were able to choose the season series between both of these teams very first game, but I believe that Washington will bounce straight back with a road triumph in their own. Dallas has not been performing better than the Capitals, although neither team has been off to an ideal beginning. Washington teams may help provide them an increase and it might help the Capitals pull off the street mad, if his groove can be found by Holtby.
BetOnline has Dallas. This suggests that the Stars will win this game around 53.5 percent of the time. I think that this match needs to be closer in favor of the Capitals to even. Washington is on a losing run against Dallas, but most of streaks come to an end. I believe that the Capitals will end their three game skid on Saturday with a road win against the Stars night.
