Where the Pirates sponsor the hapless Miami Marlins A couple last-place teams hit Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
Willie’s MLB season selections record: 100-108-5 (-2.75 units)
Exciting playoff races will be the standard for its baseball program this season. Unfortunately for some teams, however, it’s also a time for playing the string out and looking forward to next year. Such is the week’s series in Pittsburgh between the Pirates and Miami Marlins.
Miami will extend its string of becoming the underdog to 33-straight games with BetOnline sending out Pittsburgh as chalk. The Pirates are trotting Mitch Keller (1-3, 8.62) out to the bump from the opener while the Marlins flip to Sandy Alcantara (4-12, 4.22), along with Tuesday’s total is 9 using the’beneath’ costing players a bit more.
For the Marlins along with Don Mattingly, the goal is to refrain from losing over 11 games in September to prevent a 100-loss campaign. Contemplating their month was a showing in June and they are coming off a month of August, that would seem unlikely. After just being swept over the weekend in DC, miami has dropped 15-straight on the street.
Alcantara has pitched well enough to have won his last five starts, however they dropped four of these together with Alcantara no-decisioning throughout the stretch in the win. Tuesday is his very first appearance in PNC Park.
Pittsburgh bats came alive this past weekend in Colorado, providing them eight wins from the previous 10 games and helping the Pirates to a 4-game sweep of the Rockies. Kevin Newman went and clubbed three homers.
Keller was battered for eight runs in four frames in Philadelphia at a Pittsburgh reduction on a +135 currency line. The rookie came off a great outing earlier that in the home, working six and allowing just a run.
So as to do that objective, pittsburgh takes aim at its third season series victory over the Marlins and will have to consider two of the 3 games. The Pirates won two of those three in June back at Miami, giving them six wins from the previous seven meetings entering Tuesday’s tilt.
Two of the hopped totals in the 8-81/2 range, however, two of the last three at PNC Park failed to reach the scoreboard goals.
The weatherman is calling for clear skies and temps in the upper-70s for Tuesday’s original pitch, so a light NW breeze (left to right) and in the mix. I like the’over’ for my complimentary MLB pick as the bullpens allowed in late runs that are enough to ship it past the mark.
