Belinda Bencic continued her fabulous form later seeing Donna Vekic in straight sets on Wednesday off to achieve the US Open semi-finals.
Bencic had already knocked out world No 1 and defending champion Naomi Osaka at the previous round, and she made it through to her Grand Slam semi-final using a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory over the Croatian.
She fired eight aces and won 84 per cent of points on her first serve to wrap up the contest against her friend
And regular hitting spouse in one hour and 40 minutes.
“I believe we are able to be friends outside the court however do our work on the court and remain focused. I’m sure off the courtroom we are still friends,” said Bencic.
“I really like the battle. Some players are maybe scared of the courts but for me it is motivation. I am quite loving my tennis”
May take on the winner of this game between Canada’s Bianca Andreescu and Elise Mertens of Belgium .
Bencic becomes the first woman to get this far at Flushing Meadows.
Vekic functioned for the opening set but was not able to close it all out and broke for 5-4.
A lengthy forehand gave the hand to Bencic, although she saved a set point in the tie-break.
Before landing in bencic, a former Eastbourne winner, had a massive slice of fortune serving at 30-30 in the beginning of the second set when a backhand flew broad but trimmed the net cable.
Bencic frees up the pressure and broke her second service game to love before reeling off the last 3 games and converting her third match point although vekic saved two break points at 2-2.
