Belinda Bencic continued her form to achieve the US Open semi-finals later viewing off Donna Vekic in straight sets on Wednesday.
Bencic had already knocked out world # 1 and defending champion Naomi Osaka in the previous round, and she made it through to her maiden Grand Slam semi-final with a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory on the Croatian.
She won 84 per cent of points on her serve to wrap up the competition against her friend and fired eight aces
And frequent hitting spouse in 40 minutes and an hour.
“I believe we’re able to be friends outside the court but do our job on the court and remain focused. I’m sure off the courtroom we are still friends,” said Bencic.
“I actually like the battle. It is motivation although some players are scared of the courts that are huge. I am really loving my tennis”
The 13th seed, who has yet to lose a set in the tournament, will take about the winner of this match involving Canada’s Bianca Andreescu and Elise Mertens of Belgium to get a place in Saturday’s closing.
Bencic becomes the first woman to find this far at Flushing Meadows.
Vekic bankrupt for 5-4 and functioned for the opening series but was not able to close it all out.
She saved a set point at 5-6 and two in the tie-break, but Bencic was given the upper hand by a forehand.
Before landing bencic, a Eastbourne winner, had a huge slice of fortune serving at 30-30 in the start of the second group when a backhand flew broad but trimmed the net cord.
Bencic cranked up the tension and broke her next service game to love until reeling off the last 3 games and converting her third match point although vekic saved two break points at 2-2.
