Dutchman Dylan van Baarle stated he is targeting one of those big classics next year after registering a fresh three-year contract.
Even the 27-year-old, who joined the British outfit at 2018, was a crucial element in the Tour de France success of Egan Bernal this season in addition to winning the Herald Sun Tour.
“I had been a better bicycle rider here and I want to find that progress to continue,” Van Baarle, who is a part of a powerful Dutch team at the world championships in Yorkshire the next week,” explained in a statement.
“This season together with Egan winning the Tour this was a fantasy. It’s what I aimed for – to be part of the Tour staff and winning. With second and first (Geraint Thomas) it had been a really nice three weeks”
He explained the screenplay will probably be one of his aims next year, in addition to establishing himself in the Grand Tours.
“I hope I could be on the podium in a big classic. I also need to be very critical in the Grand Tours, helping for even longer than I did this year.”
