Anthony Watson insists England will perform without fear of sustaining an injury on Friday in their final World Cup warm-up Test against Italy, live on Sky Sports Action.
States his team-mates shouldn’t drop their criteria at St James’ Park at their final Quilter International.
Eddie Jones’ side venture out on Sunday to Japan aiming to land a World Cup because Jonny Wilkinson secured a victory.
“You can’t worry about it and I’m not worried about it,” explained Watson on the potential for picking up an injury against Italy.
“As soon as you start entering contact at 85 per cent and start worrying about ensuring you get on the airplane on Sundayyou will not play too as possible and you’d likely get hurt anyway.”
England bounced back after defeat to Wales in Cardiff with a victory over Ireland at Twickenham on August 25, which means they have won two of their three summertime internationals.
Jones has confirmed he will hand a debut to winger Watson and Ruaridh McConnochie is convinced his, that has been chosen in the 31-man squad heading into the Far East, will bring a fresh dimension into the federal side.
“Having played with Ruaridh at heart level I know a bit about him and what to anticipate,” Watson added.
“He has blown my mind into how he has come into this setup. He’s always eager for understanding and trying to understand, so he has not been really fazed by anything.
“He’s taken it into his stride and ripped it up very, which is testament to him as a bloke. He strong in the way he carries the ball.
“He never gives up and does not go down easily.”
