Chris Eubank Jr has accused Billy Joe Saunders of avoiding him but warns that he will”get what is coming” when they finally talk about a ring.
A rematch between the two Brits – who both fought recently at middleweight – was mooted since their first battle in November 2014.
Eubank Jr insists that he could have his revenge, although saunders won that struggle by split decision.
He told Sky Sports News:”We have been trying to make that struggle for decades. Whenever it happens, it happens.
“He is not really a priority for me because there’s a lot of other big names on the market. But when that battle happens, he will get what’s coming, and I will have the ability to move on.”
Asked whether he believed Saunders was avoiding him, or if the rematch hasn’t yet been organized because of contractual reasons, Eubank Jr explained:”Both.
“He does not need to fight unless he is getting paid a crazy sum of money. But in this stage, the struggle can be made; it is just where and when.”
While he’s unsure if he’ll get another shot Eubank – who obtained the IBO name when defeating James DeGale at February – says his next fight is going to be announced imminently.
“I have not been as active as I needed to be this year,” the 29-year-old recognized. “I said I wished to battle three times this year and I have only fought after.
“I will absolutely be fighting before this year’s out. It’ll be within the next couple of months and there’ll be a statement in the next couple of months on the competition and place.”
Eubank Jr offered his ideas on the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr, that takes place on December 7 live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The 29-year-old believes Joshua can easily exude his defeat into Ruiz Jr – the first of his pro career – as long as he plans the struggle with all the best”mindset”.
“AJ is a champion,” Eubank Jr.”I believe if he goes there with the right mindset, he can do the business easily. He just did not have the right mindset to do it.
“I think he maybe underestimated him – as we did, especially when you’re fighting a man that does not resemble a fighter.
“Nevertheless he underestimated him, he paid the price, and I’m convinced he’s going to be fighting like his life depends on it.
“He wants his straps back. He’s worked so tough to achieve what he is achieved – I don’t think he’ll allow Ruiz to upset him again.”
