Moussa Djenepo is to come back from injury and create his complete Premier League debut this weekend.
Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl hopes the effect they need to beat the newly-promoted Blades and continue their good shape can be made by the # 15m summer-signing from Standard Liege.
After picking up a knock djenepo scored off the bench in the win but overlooked the draw and the Saints manager claims he is close to coming.
“That’s what we anticipated when we signed him in the summer – he can deliver us something unique,” Hasenhuttl stated.
“I believe he’s demonstrated in the few minutes he’s played so much; he could be a player that makes a difference. It was a shame. I am sure when he comes back this weekend, he will help.
“The odds are not that big but let’s have a look. We don’t have to pick today – there are two days to go. It seems better. If it’s enough for him to play at the weekend, then we’ll have to look.
“I don’t want to take too much danger because we have a busy September, so we have to listen.”
Hasenhuttl has had a variety of injury problems but confirmed that Ryan Bertrand may reunite after overlooking the Brighton and United games – but Nathan Redmond remains out.
“Michael [Obafemi] and Ryan [Bertrand] have been working with the team. Both of them are options and the rest are fit,” the Austrian said.
“Because of those suspended players we truly have to look for a brand new left-back and he can be one option for me personally, yes.
“Jake Vokins is also an option but Pierre Hojberg can also play with there and Cedric too, together with Yann Valery on the opposite side. I’ve very elastic players and a fantastic player can play every position.”
“Everybody came back in the worldwide fracture without any injuries, so that is great news. The terrible news is that Nathan [Redmond] is still available for all of us.”
