On a day where neither team wanted to play with, the rain washed away the game and arrived. Last nights game a number of the American League Championship was rained out, and it had been for the greater for nearly everybody. ?? Both groups started men that they didnt really need to start in a match that mattered a lot.
Houston was about to go with newcomer Jose Urquidy, followed up by what was likely to be six or five innings of the bullpen. And New York reacted with a move since they were going to go with veteran JA Happ for a few innings before turning things over for their bullpen. But with the rain, comes an excess day of rest and we have a match four with both teams and with fictitious starters on the mound.
The only problem is that with the rain out, these teams are going to need to finish the series out by playing four games in four days. As they have starters which are currently going to have the ability to pitch deep into games, For me, that makes the Astros in the show. We have already seen that New York will go to their own bullpen early and often and never have to play four nights can place strain . Tonights game is made by This four that much more important for New York.
Beginning for the Yankees tonight is Masahiro Tanaka (11-9 4.45 ERA) and also for the Astros can it be Zack Greinke (18-5 2.93 ERA). The match complete over-under is placed at eight and a half runs. The Yankees are -125 favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 PM PST out of Yankee Stadium in New York .
Masahiro Tanaka was excellent in this postseason for New York. With Luis Severino trying to figure out things after missing most of the season, and James Paxton struggling, the Yankees have needed Tanaka to be the ace of this team, and hes come through big time. Tanaka is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 2 movie starts for New York this year. ?? Against Houston in game , Tanaka was unhittable because he did not allow a run on just 1 hit and pitched six innings.
When you look at his history of pitching in the game, he appears to have success. In seven starts, Tanaka has an ERA of simply 1.32. And four of these starts have come from those Astros. So, it has not really been all that shocking to see him have success within this series, and Id anticipate that he is good again tonight. The Yankees are hoping to get five or five innings from Tanaka tonight, however, theyd like to be able to stretch that and rest this bullpen.
Zack Greinke has created two starts in the postseason this year for Houston and Ive bet against him both times. Its not that I am a Greinke hater, it is simply that he has been very inconsistent in his period. Hes had some struggles and the books were pricing him just like he had been Justin Verlander or Gerrit Cole while he has mostly been great. I dont, although I would put him on this degree.
Those 2 stakes I made against Greinke? As hes had a really rough start to the play this season I won them both. In his first postseason start, he got blasted by the Tampa Bay Rays earned runs in just three and two thirds of an inning. In game one against New York, he had been better because he pitched six innings and allowed three runs, but Tanaka outpitched him, and he was charged with his second loss. The Astros have lost Greinkes two starts. Ouch.
We saw exactly the same starting pitching matchup in game , and the Yankees won the game easily. And I dont see a compelling rationale that they wont repeat that performance here tonight. That game has been in Houston, that one is currently arriving in New York, and I am quite surprised after we saw this one play a few days to see that the number as such a one.
I think Tanaka is good again, and that I actually think Greinke is going to be decent. Hes just too good of a pitcher to fight for much longer, if he sees out a way to really have a wonderful 30, and it wouldnt surprise me. But in the end, I just cant pass up on financing the Yankees in the home at a price that is reasonable. I think it goes the full seven matches, although I think the Astros are going to locate a way to win this series. And that means New York must find a way to win tonight.
The one thing we didnt speak about with this rest day was that the health of Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton has epic electricity and overlooked both games two and three with a sore leg. He was readily available to pinch hit last night, and I think at a pinch hit late in the game, hell either be able to play the match, or with the additional day of rest tonight. It certainly appears to help them, although I am not going to state the rain gifted this match to New York. Give the New York Yankees as little home favorites in game three from Yankee Stadium to me.
