It appears that UFC celebrity Conor”Notorious” McGregor might be back in action again for first time because UFC 229 last October, but it might be a return into the boxing ring rather than the Octagon. His opponent you ask? Manny Pacquaio? Canelo Alvarez? Paulie Malignaggi? Luke Keeler, wait that? Boxer Luke Keeler took a shot McGregor on websites regarding a bar incident in mid-August and contested his fellow countryman.
Online sportsbook BetOnline has put out two lines regarding this spat on whether the fight will even take place in 2019 with all”Yes” arriving in at +450 and”No” coming straight back in -700. In addition, a gambling line in the event that this struggle does happen and that has Keeler as a favored with McGregor coming back in +175.
Yet again, McGregor finds himself in the spotlight for the wrong reason outside the Octagon. The Ireland indigenous has a history of as he was detained for hurling a dolly at a UFC bus ahead of UFC 223 in early April of 2018 and has been ordered five weeks of community support and needed to do anger management courses. Fast forward to early March of the former two-division champion and the year was in trouble for allegedly taking a man’s telephone and smashing it. Criminal charges and the litigation were subsequently dismissed.
Now, a movie was released in mid-August of this year of McGregor getting in an altercation with an older guy at a bar following a dispute over a few whiskey, it appears, and also the UFC fighter threw a left hit which struck the man from the face. In steps fighter Luke Keeler who maintains McGregor did exactly the same thing to some buddy of the years and issued a challenge for a boxing game. The two apparently exchanged words on the phone and eventually agreed to a bout.
I’m torn with this. This can be another chance for McGregor to invest in the ring after some warmth, make some cash and if he won, a valid boxing game, it could stir up rumors of battling Manny Pacquiao or some Floyd Mayweather rematch. Using Zuffa Boxing becoming set to launch shortly which UFC president Dana White will runs, that could be a huge event for their very first show which would get loads of sign-ups and eyes .
On the flip side, White may not desire his own prized possession to get in a ring with a relative unknown to the general public and risk dropping to him which would be the third reduction in McGregor four conflicts and second straight in boxing. Using a loss to Keeler, the Mayweather rematch or any other boxing match with McGregor would likely be dashed.
I personally feel this battle would take place behind closed doors perhaps at Keeler’s house fitness center. Similar to the McGregor-Malignaggi feud leading up the May-Mac struggle in 2017. Currently, fellow Truth Shark contributors Iain MacMillan and Joe Osborne consider that individuals wouldn’t pass up on cashing in with this bout, I feel that the risk may outweigh the reward.
One of the biggest reasons that has cost McGregor victories previously is an aspect of his game, his conditioning he asserts he is working . Notorious did land a uppercut on Mayweather, a defensive wizard from the ring, ancient in their bout but the fighter barely changed. It begs the question does he possess the punching power to the amount of boxers that train on punching instead of fretting about kicks, clinches and grappling.
Meanwhile, Keeler has steadily risen the middleweight (160 lbs) branch and will be the fourth-ranked fighter in the WBO middleweight positions and can be headquartered in Ireland. He is unbeaten in his last eight fights since his loss to because he dropped in 2015 to Doran as well the only man he’s dropped. Keeler can continue to keep a rate for the complete duration of a bout and is extremely aggressive.
Overall, McGregor is a little unconventional and punches does throw from strange angles that catch the more conventional boxing style off guard. He does a very fantastic job in countering he should have plenty of chances to do against a forward-moving fighter such as Keeler. That being said, Keeler could drag McGregor into seas and has conditioning and??put him off. I think in the end a determination would be scored by Keeler in this bout with McGregor winning the rest of the game shutting out.
