Tour de France winner Egan Bernal will not ride in the Road World Championships in England on 29.
Carlos Betancur has has pulled out of the Colombia group for the race within Harrogate and replaced bernal.
The 22-year-old beat the Geraint Thomas of Britain to become the very first playoff to win Tour de France in July.
“The gifted Team Ineos cyclist made a decision to turn down the call-up,” said the Colombian Cycling Federation.
Bernal tweeted 4 September that he would not compete in Yorkshire if he didn’t believe he could perform at his best wearing his national colours.
The 285km course might not have suited a mountain climber such as Bernal and isn’t especially scenic.
When he claimed the Tour de France in the 24, bernal became the youngest winner of cycling affair for 110 years.
