Eddie Nketiah scored just two goals since England U21s started their Euro 2021 qualifying effort with a 3-2 success in Turkey.
The team of aidy Boothroyd suffered frustration in the summer it looked like that atmosphere could survive on Friday night and as they were knocked out of the Championship in the group stages, even though a new crop of prospects.
Just six members of this squad for this month’s qualifiers have played the Young Lions – Nketiah among them.
Even the striker put England , Reiss and Nketiah Nelson struck to secure the win although the match turned round.
England started well and went ahead after just four minutes after a great move between Steven Sessegnon along with Phil Foden the side of the penalty area; Foden’s low cross was missed by two Turkish defenders permitting Nketiah to stab the ball home from seven yards out.
Nelson had an opportunity that is even clearer in the first half to score however, the teams went to the level after Dogukan Sinik scored after 25 minutes and dashed clear.
England made a sluggish start to the second half and they paid the cost six minutes. A corner watched Mert Muldur get away from his marker and his free run into the post watched him flick the ball.
However, two goals in as many seconds turned the match . Foden had been the architect darting goalwards before threading a pass inside the penalty area only to Nketiah and on loan in Leeds, provided a finish.
Instantly Nelson netted what proved to be the winning goal with a low shot that might have taken a deflection off a defender.
