The penultimate stop on the FedExCup playoffs gets underway this week in Medinah, Illinois in the BMW Championship. When it has to do with chances lists, Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy would be the +800 co-favorites to proceed all of the way.
Koepka and McIlroy are the +800 favorites at BetOnline, together with Jon Rahm (+1000), Dustin Johnson (+1400), Justin Rose (+1600), Justin Thomas (+1600), Patrick Cantlay (+2000), Webb Simpson (+2000), Patrick Reed (+2200) and Adam Scott (+2500) rounding out the top 10.
Just 30 spots are on the line for the Tour Championship at East Lake, therefore a strong performance at Medinah is critical. The previous time reigning FedExCup winner Rose and 2016 champion McIlroy played with the course was in the 2012 Ryder Cup — a victory for Europe. The winner of the BMW Championship will receive 2,000 FedExCup points. No guy has successfully defended his FedExCup title.
Last year in the championship Keegan Bradley pulled off an unlikely victory to win for the first time in over five years when the event has been held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newton Square, Pennsylvania. This was the very first time Bradley advanced to the Tour Championship since 2013. The American is a +15000 long shot.
The program, a 7,657-yard par 72, has been a staple amongst American golfing dating all of the way back into the 1920s. The track has hosted the Ryder Cup (2012), three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975 and 1990), two PGA Championships (1999, 2006) and also many different events at the pre-PGA Tour era.
