Because she put a new record into outclass Olympic and defending champion Nafissatou Thiam at 27, katarina Johnson-Thompson won heptathlon gold in the World Athletics Championships.
Johnson-Thompson finished to transcend the 6,955-points drag because she claimed her global title that was outdoor place by Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill at the London Olympics in 2012.
The 26-year-old, that held an overnight lead made another dominant day’s screen in the multi-events area following Dina victory on Wednesday.
Johnson-Thompson, who saw a day one direct overtaken by her rival since she finished second at last year’s European Championships, conducted 2:07.27 to win both the 800m and seal overall victory.
The Briton, that made personal bests in the 100m hurdles and shot place on day one, recorded the largest jump in the long jump with 6.77m to extend her instantly lead, as Thiam just managed 6.40m.
She then posted another top of 43.93m in the javelin. Meanwhile, a struggling Thiam, who seemed staged by an elbow injury, handled 48.04m – a full 11m below her best – until she skipped her final throw, meaning victory appeared a formality for Johnson-Thompson because she held a 137-point lead going into the last event.
That left Thiam needing to conquer since she streaked apparent of her equal to take the 32, but the Briton was never under threat.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Laura Muir qualified for the women’s 1500m finished with a third-place end.
The Scot, who had not raced for three weeks before the heats on Tuesday, ran four minutes 01.05 to complete behind America’s Jenny Simpson, while Muir’s training partner Gabriela Debues-Stafford was second.
Fellow Briton Sarah McDonald missed on the closing as she finished sixth in 4:15.73 but Ireland’s Ciara Mageean failed enough to collaborate together with 10000m champion Sifan Hassan of Netherlands.
Elsewhere, Britain’s Sophie McKinna bowed from this shot as she failed to complete following the opening three rounds in the top-eight, put final.
The 25-year-old threw a personal-best 18.61m in qualifying but settled for 11th spot with her best attempt of 17.99m Thursday.
