Eusebio di Francesco, who had been sacked using the club of Serie A on Monday after six defeats in seven matches is replaced by ranieri.
The 67-year-old Italian succeeded Di Francesco in Roma in March on a contract.
Its his 20th appointment and a spell as a boss in the top flight of Italy.
